Downtown Galax Grows offers Downtown Galax business property owners the oppurtunity to enhance their storefronts and buildings with a matching reimbursement grant.  Studies have shown that restoration and thoughtful design improvements often lead to greater business success by attracting more customers. Well-restored and handsome building façades draw more people to downtown, promote retail activity, increase vibrancy, and make a place where our local businesses can thrive.

This project provides matching grants ranging on a dollar-for-dollar basis in amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000 to assist downtown businesses along designated areas in the City of Galax with building façade rehabilitation and other general property improvements undertaken in accordance with established design guidelines.

The design guidelines address the following:
Architecture - Signage - Landscaping - Walls - Lighting - Veneers - Awnings

To be eligible for a Façade Improvement Program reimbursement grant, a building must be used in whole or in part for commercial purposes and must be located within downtown Galax.
